Microsoft changing Windows Phone WiFi behaviour in future update

Heard a lot of complaints on it's the WiFi function on Windows Phone.

That "problem" is when the phone goes to the Lock screen, WiFi automatically disconnects. Obviously Microsoft had good intentions in mind here with power-saving as the chief concern. But recently, evidence and personal anecdotes seem to betray the idea that turning off WiFi (when not in use) saves battery.

Luckily, Microsoft looks to finally be changing this behavior in a future update. Windows Phone Program Manager Joe Belfiore responded to a Tweet from Stephen Simpson about Data Sense (the forthcoming service that compresses data, records data usage) and there he noted that a fix is coming to alter how WiFi behaves:

Simpson: "I wish she would ask you why WiFi shuts off when you turn off the screen on every Windows Phone! Please fix this horrible bug!"

Belfiore: "Someone is gonna yell at me for saying this, but... fix is coming. :) Sshh. Just promise me a little patience though."

That's some pretty big news and we imagine this will rollout with whatever planned-package update Microsoft has in mind for Windows Phone 8. Seeing as that OS can receive over-the-air updates, presumably Microsoft could either push out just that update or a larger one, encompassing global bug fixes and new features. Of course Belfiore stresses "patience" meaning we should not expect this next week or even next month. There's also no word if this is coming to Windows Phone 7.x devices as well via the 7.8 update.

Exposé was a feature added to Mac OS X, and a similar feature showed up on Linux desktops thanks to Compiz. But Microsoft refused to copy Expose — until now, with Windows 10′s Task View — and instead added the clunky, slow Flip 3D feature to Windows Vista and 7. Microsoft finally came to their senses and just copied Exposé like they originally should have.

On Google.com, you’ll be able to enable the “Okay Google” voice hot word so you can talk to your PC — just click the microphone on Google.com in Chrome and click the “Enable Ok Google” button.

Chrome also offers a notification center with the kind of smart notifications Cortana will offer, thanks to Google Now. Access Google Now functionality by clicking the Chrome notification center that appears in your system tray. From what we’ve seen so far, the Windows 10 notification center will just be a pop-up that appears from the system tray, too.

First online murder may happen by end of year -experts warned

The world’s first ‘online murder’ via a hacked internet-connected device could happen by the end of this year, experts have warned.

The European Union’s law enforcement agency Europol has cautioned that governments are ill-prepared to combat the looming threat of “online murder” as cyber criminals exploit internet technology to target victims.

In an alarming assessment of the physical danger posed by online crime, Europol said it expected a rise in “injury and possible deaths” caused by computer attacks on critical safety equipment.

The Europol threat assessment published last week cited a report by US security firm IID which predicted that the first murder via ‘hacked internet-connected device’ would happen by the end of 2014, ‘The Independent’ reported.

The opportunities for tampering with devices come amid predictions that tens of billions of devices will be connected to the internet within the next couple of decades, according to experts.

The Europol report suggests crooks could also use the web to carry out new forms of extortion and blackmail, such as locking people out of their homes or cars before payment of a ransom.

“The IoE [Internet of Everything] represents a whole new attack vector that we believe criminals will already be looking for ways to exploit,” according to the Europol threat assessment.

“The IoE is inevitable. We must expect a rapidly growing number of devices to be rendered ‘smart’ and thence to become interconnected. Unfortunately, we feel that it is equally inevitable that many of these devices will leave vulnerabilities via which access to networks can be gained by criminals,” the report said.

“There’s already this huge quasi-underground market where you can buy and sell vulnerabilities that have been discovered,” said Rod Rasmussen, the president of IID.

Rasmussen said that while the first reported murder was yet to happen, “death by internet” was already a reality from online extortion and blackmail that has led to suicide.

He said if his firm’s prediction of an online murder did not come to pass in 2014, it would likely happen within the next few years.

Users tired of Facebook — or those just curious about Internet novelty — are flocking to Ello.

Ello is currently in beta testing and only open to users with an invitation. That means you've got to know a friend on the site, and then convince him or her to let you in.

While Ello's philosophy differs from other social media sites, its features are relatively standard.

Once a user signs up, he or she can customize a profile with a photo, a bio and more identifying details. On the site's minimally designed dashboard, users can write extensive blog posts or Tweet-length updates and upload images. Like Twitter and Facebook, users can tag friends to direct specific posts at individual people.

An Ello user can mark other Ello-ers as either a "friend" or "noise." Friends' posts show up in their entirety in the new feed. Noise posts go into a separate section of thumbnails for quick browsing.

The site is still under development, and its staff has promised to introduce more features soon.

Right now, users can't make their account private, flag inappropriate content or block users — but the team's working on that. Apps for iPhone and Android are coming soon, too.

YouTube Videos Will Soon Be Available Offline In India

Google has just launched Android One in India, which is a program designed to bring smartphones to the remaining five billion people that don’t have one yet.

Google used this opportunity to announce another new thing for users in India, the ability to view most YouTube videos offline. This feature will be rolled out in the next several weeks.

Caesar Sengupta, vice president of product management at Google said during the official announcement:

"YouTube is popular here. You watch some videos again and again. How awesome would it be if you could keep watching them again and again without having to pay for data, and take the videos with you wherever you go. Within the coming few weeks, much of YouTube will be available offline in India. This is huge, and our users will really, really like this. You can download a video once, save it to your phone, and watch it again and again."

A Google spokesperson clarified that content will be available offline at the discretion of the content owner. The option will be available by default, but content owners can decide if they want to opt out of it. Video views and ad impressions will still be tracked during offline viewing.

Google is launching this feature in India first because it’s a unique market for them. To give an example, there are 900 million phone users in India, but only 10 percent have smartphones.

Among those who have smartphones, their access to high speed wifi is limited. With Android One smartphones, Google wants to provide a real smartphone experience for users in India. They will do this by paying for data used to download updates, and will cover up to 200MB of data used to install apps if you use an Airtel SIM, and offline YouTube videos.

As of now there is no word on if Google will bring offline video viewing on YouTube to other countries.

Turn on Mouse Keys. This option sets Mouse Keys to run when you log on to Windows. Instead of using the mouse, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard or the numeric keypad to move the pointer.

Mute a conversation in Facebook

• Click on Start.
• Click on Run. If you cannot find RUN, type it in the search box.
• Type "regedit" without quotes. This will launch the RegistryEditor.
• Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor.
• In the work area, double click on Start.
• In the Value Data box, enter 4.
• Click on OK.
• Close Registry Editor and refresh your desktop.

To re-enable access to your USB ports, enter 3 in the Value Data box in Step 6.

Try it yourself to make your PC invulnerable from data theft and malware which spread through USB ports. This works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Note: 

This trick also disables access to your USB connected peripheral devices. So, do not use it if you have USB connected keyboard and mouse.

How To Create Undeletable And Unrenamable Folders ?

Eight simple steps:

• Go to Start and then Click on Run

• Type cmd & hit enter (To open Command Prompt ).

• Remember you cannot create Undeletable & unrenamable folder in your rootdirectory (i.e. where the windows is installed) That means you can't make this kind of folder in C: drive if you installed windows on C:

• Type D: or E: and hit enter

• Type md con\ and hit enter (md - make directory)

• You may use other words such as aux, lpt1, lpt2, lpt3 up to lpt9 instead of con in above step.

• Open that directory, you will see the folder created of name con.

• Try to delete that folder or rename that folder windows will show the error message.

How to delete that folder ?

It is not possible to delete that folder manually but you can delete this folder by another way mentioned below.

• Open Command Prompt

• Type D: ( if u created this type of folder in D: drive) & hit enter

• Type rd con\ (rd - remove directory)

• Open that directory and the folder will not appear because it is removed.

Hide a file behind a image means that if any one opens that image he will see the image, but to see the hidden file we need to open that image in a specific way. So lets get started.




Six steps to hide the file behind the image:

1.Select an image you want to hide file into it.


2.Now select a file to hide behind the image and make it .RAR format with the help of the WinRAR.(Right click the file and select Add to archive).


3.And most important is paste both the files in the same area.Here I will explain it by pasting it on desktop.


4.Now open cmd(Command Prompt) and type following commands in it.





5. CD stands for change directory by typing above command you change your directory to desktop. After that type command given below.

Copy /b imagename.jpg + filename.rar finalimage.jpg

• Replace imagename.jpg with the name of image you want your file to be hidden behind. Don't forget to add image format (Eg: .jpg,.png,.gif)
• Replace filename with name of your file you want to hide. It must be in .rar format.
• Finally Replace finalimage.jpg with whatever name you want your final image with hidden files should be. This is the image where your file will be hidden.

6. Now when you will try to open this newly created image it will open as normal image, but to open you hidden file you need follow steps given below.

How To Access Hidden File ?

To access your hidden file you need to open the newly created image in winrar. Just follow simple steps given below to do that.

1. Open winrar

2. Now locate your image and open it or simply drag your image in winrar.

3. Extract the file and done.
